Kelley Polar – I Need You To Hold On While The Sky Is Falling

March 6, 2008

kelleypolarsky Superior, even sublime, electropop from New Hampshire based Kelley Polar: I Need You To Hold On While The Sky Is Falling is his second full length record, and the eleven songs offer up electronica with a decidedly disco bent, with some 80’s synthpop flourishes thrown in the mix to boot. Add some brainy, gloriously spacey lyrics (some of the song titles here include “Entropy Reigns (In The Celestial City),” “We Live In An Expanding Universe” and “Sea Of Sine Waves”) and you have dance music even Discovery and Science Channel nerds can love. It loses some steam towards the end, but all in all, I Need You To Hold On While The Sky Is Falling is an invigorating and heady ride. Standout cuts: “Entropy Reigns (In The Celestial City),” “Chrysanthemum,” “Rosenband” and “We Live In An Expanding Universe.”
