Cut Copy – In Ghost Colours

April 16, 2008

cutcopySecond album from Melbourne based band Cut Copy is arranged, for the first 11 tracks, anyway, as a continuous set of music, with songs spilling over into each other or else linked by short instrumental segues. The songs are firmly in an electropop and dance mode, with both 80’s New Wave and mainstream pop influences that recall bands like Depeche Mode, New Order, Real Life, Split Enz and Information Society. In Ghost Colours is yet another example of a modern band invigorating established musical styles, creating something fresh sounding and exciting, plus it’s just a lot of fun to listen to. Definitely recommended. Standout cuts: “Feel The Love,” “Lights & Music,” “So Haunted” and “Hearts On Fire.”
