sosoglosNow here’s a Brooklyn band doing old school punk and New Wave influenced music that ought to earn them a lot more attention than they seem to be getting outside of their home base: Tourism/Terrorism is the first EP and second release from the So So Glos, and their rousing, guitar based rock has earned them some Clash comparisons, but they also do some effective acoustic numbers that put me in the mind of Paul Weller and the Jam, as well as the Housemartins and the Beautiful South. What makes their music so appealing are lyrics that are both earnest and direct, as well as music chock full of catchy melodies and solid hooks. The So So Glos are a band that just may do some great stuff in the future, so this is a good chance to catch them as they’re just starting out. Standout cuts: “Throw Your Hands Up,” “Execution” and “Isn’t It A Shame.”
